Here, we highlight our favorite fits from costume designer Terry Dresbach (who helmed the wardrobe department for the series’ first four seasons) and her successor, native Scot Trisha Biggar. The “Bar Suit/New Look” Dress: Very obviously modeled on Dior’s New Look. Since Claire traveled back in time in 1946, she’s apparently psychic considering that Dior debuted the New Look in 1947 (February 12th, to be exact). That said, it is a fabulous suit and the 1740s/1940s mash-up works really well. We admit sometimes we pause the show just to take in the style and the charm of those pretty, pretty dresses. The gorgeous sultry red costumes, exquisite plaid gowns, Scottish gowns, intricately designed Dior inspired outfits, riding coats, carefully color-coded mitts, everything looks stunning.
